Navajo Senator Bill passes unanimously

PHOENIX — the Arizona House of Representatives past S.B. 1099 unanimously on April 17, the Navajo Code Talker Days, a bill sponsored by Navajo Senator Carlyle Begay.

Begay expressed his condolences on the passing of Navajo Code Talker Samuel “Jesse” Smith Jr, “This comes with the unfortunate loss this week of another wonderful Navajo Code Talker hero to our people, Samuel “Jesse” Smith Jr,” Begay said. “He and other Navajo Code Talkers set a positive example for us to follow and we offer our prayers and condolences to his family.”

The bill now heads to the Governor’s office to be signed into law, “The legacy of the Navajo Code Talkers will long be remembered and honored in Arizona history,” Begay said. “Every year the State of Arizona will celebrate August 14 as Navajo Code Talkers Day.”
